People Analytics is the analysis of data concerning the people of an organization, mainly its employees or candidates, to enable informed decision-making. This includes observing the data, interpreting it, communicating the lessons learned from the analyses, and formulating recommendations.
The interpretation of data can take various forms, ranging from descriptive analysis (eg, what are the skills of high-performing individuals in this position), to predictive analysis (eg, which candidates are most likely to succeed in this role?), and even to prescriptive analysis (eg, what actions should be taken to ensure that the best candidates accept job offers).
The ultimate goal is the improvement of the overall performance of the company, and simultaneously the employee experience (EX) and their well-being.
